German Classes for Children and Adults

New Semester starts in July. Classes on campus in Tuart Hill and online.

Come, join us. Deutsch macht Spaß!

Language Program for Children

In our Beginners 1 class (from the age of five), the children make their first experience with the German language in a fun and playful way. In the Beginners 2 and Intermediate classes, the basics skills are further developed, and students are prepared for the Advanced class (Years 10-12). In this class, the focus of the adolescents is on getting ready for the WACE (West Australian Certificate of Education) Background Speaker Exam and the DSD2. In addition, we offer a German as a Second Language class (Deutsch als Zweitsprache - DaZ) for children with native speaker background.

Language Program Adults

Around 100 language students enrol in our adults' classes each term. As an exam cooperation partner of the Goethe Institute Australia and TestDaF Institute, course participants can sit internationally recognised exams. We are the only organisation offering this opportunity in all of Western Australia. The adult classes follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The motivation of our participants varies wildly: we have students who have a clear, professional interest in the language, people with a German-speaking partner, those who want to refresh their high school German, students preparing for a trip to Europe and even those who want to keep their minds fit and active by learning a second language.

What People Say

Goethe Society WA icon

This is what one of our students, Marie, had to say about our classes:

“I would like to share my rewarding experience with the Goethe Society WA in Perth!

Between 2011 and 2015 I attended German classes every Friday night. In 2015 (year 10) I completed the German WACE exam as a private candidate, since my high school did not offer German as a second language.

When I graduated (2016), my German mark was actually the highest out of all my ATAR subjects. It contributed enormously to my eventually high ATAR score and set my pathway into Medicine. I would definitely recommend the WACE German classes as they prepared me well in all areas for the exam, not just in terms of grammar and writing skills, but also in terms of content for the different topics covered in the exam. Furthermore, the weekly classes taught me valuable German skills that I can now use on a daily basis.

I would therefore highly recommend the Goethe Society WA as my experience with them was fantastic and I would strongly urge any parents or students wanting to improve their German language skills to attend classes at the Goethe Society WA in Perth!”
